Milan Area C + Area B
Area C charges €5 to enter the city centre on weekdays. Area B excludes diesel Euro 4 and below entirely. Tickets cost €80+. Pay or check at Milano-areac.it.

Almost every old Italian city centre is a Zona a Traffico Limitato (ZTL). Florence, Rome, Bologna, Pisa, Verona: camera enforcement is automatic and fines arrive in the post months later. If your hotel is in the ZTL, ask them to register your plate.
Dipped headlights on outside built-up areas
Headlights must be on (low beam) at all times outside towns, including in daylight. Modern DRLs are NOT a substitute. You need actual dipped beams.
Pet travel: Animal Health Certificate
GB pets need an AHC from a UK vet within 10 days of entering Italy. Covers onward EU travel for 4 months and one re-entry to GB.
