Visitor's driving permit required
UK/EU licence is not directly valid. You must buy a temporary Barbados visitor's permit (BBD$10 for 2 months, around EUR 5) from the car rental company, police station, or licensing authority on presenting your home licence.
Third-party insurance via rental
Compulsory third-party insurance is included with all rentals; UK green card / own-car insurance does not extend to Barbados as private vehicle import for tourists is impractical.
Drive on the LEFT
Barbados drives on the left, British-style, with right-hand-drive vehicles and roundabouts going clockwise. Give way to traffic from the right at roundabouts.

Barbadian dollar (BBD) is fixed at BBD$2 = USD$1 (around BBD$2.15 = EUR 1); USD is widely accepted, cards work at fuel stations in tourist areas, cash needed for rural pumps.
Petrol roughly BBD$3.65/litre (around EUR 1.55-1.70); fuel stations are attendant-served and tipping is not expected. Cash declaration threshold at customs is BBD$20,000 (around EUR 9,000).
