Montagnareale (Sicilian: Muntagnariali) is a comune (municipality) in the Metropolitan City of Messina in the Italian region Sicily, located about 140 kilometres (87 mi) east of Palermo and about 50 kilometres (31 mi) west of Messina. Montagnareale borders the following municipalities: Gioiosa Marea, Librizzi, Patti, Sant'Angelo di Brolo. The town is located on the northern Nebrodi in the Saracen mountain group and shares the hill with the hamlet of Patti, Sorrentini.
