Kyela is one of the seven districts of Mbeya Region, Tanzania. It is bordered to the north by Rungwe District, to the northeast by Njombe Region, to the southeast by Lake Nyasa, to the south by Malawi and to the west by Ileje District. In 2016 the Tanzania National Bureau of Statistics report there were 244,108 people in the district, from 221,490 in 2012. The District Commissioner of the Kyela District is Katule G. Kingamkono.
