It has a population of 1,879 as of 2021 and is composed of three villages: Craiva (Királypataka), Cricău, and Tibru (Tibor). The commune is situated on the Transylvanian Plateau, 11 km (6.8 mi) west of Teiuș, and 15 km (9.3 mi) north of the county seat, Alba Iulia. The river Cricău flows through the commune.
