Boerne ( BURN-ee) is a city in and the county seat of Kendall County, Texas, United States, in the Texas Hill Country. Founded in 1849 as Tusculum, German settlers changed its name to Boerne, in honor of author and satirist Ludwig Börne, when it was platted in 1852. Boerne is known for its German-Texan history.
